Welcome to the March 2018 edition of KeyNotes...IREM 8's newsletter of all events. This is a bi-monthly must-read publication.
I know you are all anxiously awaiting for an update on the status of our January Board of Directors' Team Builder - specifically did anyone drink too much sake and cut off a finger while trying to make sushi? Amazingly! we all survived! I am sorry to say that the sushi did not survive.
For those of you that missed our February 1st IREM Industry Forecast and Trade show event… you missed a great event. Our panel of experts discussed industry trends and events on all sectors of our industry and invariably the topic turned to where will AMAZON go. I think the consensus was that MD is still a strong contender, but our area missed an excellent opportunity by not presenting a unified VA, MD and DC submission that would have helped seal the deal.
Our February meeting featured guest speaker was Doug Lotierzo from Neuberger and Co. Doug spoke about the BAT’s of Goal Setting (Best Behaviors, Attitudes, and Techniques). His message focused on the importance of our behaviors, attitudes and beliefs as they relate to our desire to move the bar forward and focus on attaining and meeting our goals. Doug’s message was well received so we brought him back in March for a second presentation.
We returned to Clyde’s in Chinatown on March 20th for a presentation on “Effective Communication”. See below for a short recap and pictures from both the February and March events.
Hope to see all of you at our April meeting on April 17th at Maggiano's in Chevy Chase. This two-part meeting is a mandatory meeting for CPM Candidates during the first part, and then a fun interactive session for the second part. Word has it that a Family Feud game will be the highlight!
In sad news, I share with the membership the passing of Joe Murray, CPM. Joe was Chapter 8 President in 1962. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Spread the word that Private Offering Courses are available for your company - groups of 10 or more. This means an instructor comes to your site and holds a class for just your company's employees. The idea is to get a group of people to "fast track" their way to a CPM, ARM, or ACoM designation. The more people in the class, the lower the price per person. For more information on this excellent opportunity, contact the Region 3 Education Office or download the Private Offerings Brochure Here!
